Convert WebP to PNG
Turn WebP images into PNG files with their transparent areas intact, so you can open and edit them in more programs.
Add images: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP or SVG.
or drop files here
Transparent areas become white in JPG.
Files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Add your WebP images with "Choose files" or by dragging them in.
- Check that PNG is selected under "Convert to", then click "Convert".
- Use "Download" for one image or "Download all (ZIP)" to save every PNG together.
Good to know
WebP and PNG both support transparency, which makes this the right conversion for logos, icons, stickers and cut-out product shots saved from the web. PNG is lossless and widely supported by image editors, presentation software and older apps, so the converted file is easier to work with, and its transparent background stays put. Converting to JPG instead would fill that background with white.
The trade-off is file size. PNG stores every pixel without loss, so a photo-like WebP image can become noticeably larger as a PNG. That's fine for editing, but if you only want to share a photo, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file. There's no quality setting to choose for PNG output, and animated WebP images are converted from their first frame only.
Questions and answers
Does converting WebP to PNG keep transparency?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas stay transparent. Only JPG output fills them with white.
Why is my PNG bigger than the WebP file?
WebP compresses images more efficiently, while PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel exactly, so it usually needs more space.
Will the PNG lose any quality?
Saving as PNG adds no further loss, because PNG is lossless. Any detail the WebP file had already lost to compression can't be brought back, though.
