Merge PDF files

Put several PDFs together into one document, in exactly the order you choose. The files are combined on your own device rather than on a server.

Add the PDF files you want to combine.

or drop files here

Files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Click "Choose files" or drag two or more PDFs onto the page.
  2. Drag the files into order, or use the "Move up" and "Move down" arrows.
  3. Click "Remove" (the X) next to any file you don't want to include.
  4. Click "Merge PDF".
  5. Click "Download" to save the combined file as merged.pdf.

What it does

  • See what you're combining

Each file in the list shows its name, page count and size, so you can spot a wrong attachment before you merge.

  • Reorder on any device

Drag files into place with a mouse, or use the up and down arrows, which work on phones and tablets too.

  • Add files in rounds

Forgot one? Click "Add more" to bring in extra PDFs without starting over.

  • What carries over

Text, images, links and form fields on the pages usually remain as they were. Bookmarks (the outline) are not carried over.

  • Merged on your device

Your PDFs are joined inside the browser and are not uploaded, which matters for contracts, payslips and medical letters.

  • No sign-up or watermark

There's no account and no daily cap. The only practical limit on file size is your device's memory.

Good to know

Merging is handy whenever several documents need to travel together: a job application with a cover letter, CV and certificates, a set of scanned receipts for an expense claim, or a year of statements you want to archive as one file. Put the document you want people to see first at the top of the list, because the merged PDF follows the list from top to bottom.

Before you start, remove the password from any protected PDF, since the tool can't open it. If you rely on bookmarks to jump between chapters, keep the original files too, because the outline doesn't come through in the merged file. Once the pages are together, Organize PDF can rotate or delete individual pages, and Compress PDF can shrink the result if it's too large to email.

Questions and answers

Is it safe to merge PDFs online?

On this site, merging happens inside your browser on your own computer or phone. The PDFs are not uploaded to a server and don't leave your device, so it's a sensible option for contracts, bank statements and other private papers.

How many PDF files can I merge at once?

There is no set number and no daily limit. The real limit is your device's memory, so a computer handles bigger batches than a phone. If a phone runs out of memory, merge in smaller groups, then merge the results.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. A PDF that needs a password to open can't be read by the tool. Remove the password first, then add the file again.

Will bookmarks and links still work after merging?

Bookmarks, also called the outline, are not carried over into the merged file. Links and form fields on the pages usually remain.

How do I change the order of the files?

On a computer, drag a file up or down the list. On any device, including phones, use the "Move up" and "Move down" arrows beside each file.

Does the merged PDF have a watermark?

No. The file is saved as merged.pdf without any watermark, and you can rename it after downloading.
